Terms of Use
Last updated 10 August 2026
The short version. Clearing is a self-help tool, not medical care. Using it requires a subscription, which renews automatically and can be cancelled any time in your app store account settings.
Accepting these terms
By downloading or using Clearing you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Clearing is not medical advice
Clearing is a self-help and habit-tracking tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. The wellness milestones shown in the app are general, commonly cited information about nicotine cessation, presented as encouragement — they are not personalised medical guidance and are not guarantees about your health.
Nicotine withdrawal can affect people differently. Consult a doctor, pharmacist or a stop-smoking service about quitting, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are taking medication. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.
Your data and your device
Your quit history, journal notes and craving log are stored on your device only. We cannot recover them for you. If you delete the app, lose your phone, or use "Erase all data", that information is gone permanently. Please keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Subscriptions
What a subscription includes
Clearing requires an active subscription to use. You can download the app and set up your quit without paying, but continuing past that point needs a subscription. It includes everything the app does: your quit tracked live with what you have saved, the craving rescue tools, every health milestone, daily check-ins, your journal, and your craving trigger and intensity insight.
If your subscription lapses, the app stops opening — but nothing you wrote is deleted. It stays on your device, and resubscribing brings it straight back.
Billing
- Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm.
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your app store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, and refunds are handled under their policies. We cannot issue refunds directly. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support to request one.
Acceptable use
Please do not reverse engineer, decompile, resell or redistribute the app, attempt to circumvent purchase verification, or use it in any unlawful way.
Intellectual property
Clearing, its name, design, artwork and code are owned by us and licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. Everything you write in the app remains yours.
Availability and changes
We may update, change or discontinue features. We may update these terms; the date above will change and significant updates will be noted in the app.
Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that using it will result in quitting successfully.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Clearing is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights that cannot be excluded.
